| 内容記述 | In "Must Come and Bide": Antinatalist Sentiments in Hardy's Poems of the Past and Present (1901), I offer close readingf of two poems: "To an Unborn Pauper Child" and "Mad Judy," while also touching on "By the Earth's Corpse" (from the same volume.) My interest is in the poems as poems: I try to tease out all of their verbal and, where appropriate, narrative details. I also treat their theme, which, in philosophy, bears the name "anti-natalism," the most important exponent of which in recent years is David Benatar. | |||||||
