| 内容記述 | This study explores the effects of significant environmental changes in passenger railways on the strategies of private operators. In particular, we focus on the regulatory changes of 1997. We find the de-regulation has little effects to the operators' behaviour; changes in the market environment may be the large momentum of the firms' responses; the firms still tended to utilise the valuable assets of railways, and aimed to improve the value of local areas alongside railway lines through diversification. Therefore, these companies might eventually aim to enhance the value of the railway by improving the value of areas alongside railway lines through diversification. | |||||||||||||
