| 内容記述 | キリスト教は、日本における宣教の開始以来、日本の民俗的風習、たとえば先祖祭祀や死者儀礼に対して否定的な姿勢をとってきた。その結果として、キリスト教と伝統的な日本の風習との間に軋轢を生じてきた。カトリックも多くのプロテスタント各派も含めてキリスト教は、概ね先祖祭祀の概念に対して否定的であったが故に、日本人キリスト教徒は、戸惑いながら、大多数が非キリスト教徒である社会の伝統的風習に自らを合わせているように思われる。先祖祭祀は、キリスト教にとって、神学的にも実践的にも未解決の課題である。キリスト教はいかにして、偶像崇拝を禁ずる聖書的伝統を先祖祭祀に関係づけることができるであろうか。また、今日の日本において、生者と死者の交わりという概念に、どのような意義が見出し得るであろうか。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | Since the start of its missionary work in Japan, Christians have held a negative attitude to Japanese ethnic customs, for example, ancestor worship or rites for the deceased. As a result there has been friction between Christianity and traditional Japanese customs. Because Christianity, which includes Catholicism and many Protestant denominations, is mostly opposed to the concept of ancestor worship, many Japanese Christians seem to adapt themselves half-heartedly to the traditional customs of a society where the majority is non-Christian. Ancestor worship remains for Japanese Christianity an unresolved issue, both theologically and practically. How can Christianity, with its scriptural injunction against idolatry, relate to practice of ancestral worship? And what sort of meaning can be found in the concept behind this interchange between the living and the dead in modern Japan? | |||||
