| 内容記述 | 日本近代史においても、万国宗教大会(1893年)や宗教家懇談会(1896年)のように、現代の宗教間対話に近いものがあった。しかし、宗教同士の宥和が進むことは、必ずしも日本社会全体が寛容な社会となることを意味しなかった。本稿では、宗教の共存そのものが国家秩序に組み込まれ、政教分離の形式のもとに、排他的なナショナリズムの一部として機能した側面に光を当て、近代日本に通底する、広い意味での「宗教間対話」の構造を明らかにする。その際、日本のキリスト教は、ほぼ無自覚に「宗教」と一体化してしまった結果、国家の巧妙な政教関係の中に取り込まれ、「宗教」の外部に置かれた隠れた宗教イデオロギーに対する批判能力を十分に持ち得なかった。その中でキリスト教は、仏教など他の宗教と補完的・対話的な関係に置かれていった。こうした近代日本の構造的問題が、宗教と世俗ナショナリズムをめぐる普遍的な課題にもつながっていくことを最後に考察する。 | |||||||||||||

| 内容記述 | In the modern age of Japan there were already interreligious dialogues such as the World's Parliament of Religions (1893) and the Council of the Religious Leaders (1896), which seem to be comparable with the contemporary ones. However, cooperation between religions did not always result in the tolerant Japanese society as a whole. This paper will shed light on how the coexistence of religions have been embedded into the national order and played a role of exclusive nationalism in the separation of state and religion, and will clarify the consistent structure of "interreligious dialogue" in modern Japan in a wider sense. At that time, Japanese Christianity identified itself as the "Religion" without any doubt. As a result, Christianity was utilized in the subtle national policy of state and religion and could not have a critical insight into the latent religious ideology which existed outside "religion." And Christianity was set into a complimentary and cooperative relationship with Japanese religions including Buddhism. Lastly, this paper will consider how these kinds of structural problems in modern Japan can be connected with the universal disputes over religion and secular nationalism. | |||||||||||||
