| 内容記述 | 本論文は松尾音次郎(1864-1950)について論究したものである。松尾は兵庫県明石の生まれで、1881(明治14)年9月に同志社英学校に入学し、卒業後神学科に進みキリスト教を学ぶ。その後1892年3月から北海道にわたり、樺戸集治監にて教誨師として働く。後に松尾はイェール大学で4年間学び、経済界に進んでいくが、いわゆる「北海道バンド」の一人として重要な人物である。これまで松尾音次郎については殆ど研究されてこなかったが、同志社関係、キリスト教関係、そして監獄関係の資料を駆使し、彼の重要な時期である同志社時代と監獄教誨師時代に光を当てて明らかにする。 | |||||||||||||

| 内容記述 | This paper focuses on Otojiro Matsuo (1864–1950). Matsuo was born in Akashi, the Hyogo Prefecture, and entered the Doshisha English School in September 1881. After the graduation, he pursued theological studies and learned about Christianity. In March 1892, he moved to Hokkaido, where he worked as a prison chaplain at the Kabato prison. Later, Matsuo studied at Yale University for four years before entering the business world, and becoming an important figure, as one of the socalled "Hokkaido Band." While research on Otojiro Matsuo has been minimal up till now, this paper sheds light on the important periods of his life at the Doshisha and as a prison chaplain, using sources related to the Doshisha, Christianity, and prisons. | |||||||||||||
