 note = {本論考では、ヒュームが『人間本性論』の「理性にかんする懐疑論について」という節で展開する懐疑的立論を、蓋然性についてのかれの教説に基づいて再構成し、その内実と成否を検討する。本論考での再構成に基づけば、当該の節での懐疑的立論は、対立する信念の対置の繰り返しによって一方の側の優位を次第に減少させ、最終的には完全な判断保留に導くものであり、先行研究での通説に反して、立論として成功している。, In this paper, I reconstruct and examine Hume's sceptical argument in the section of A Treatise of Human Nature, named "Of scepticism with regard to reason." According to my reconstruction, his argument aims to diminish the superiority of one belief by opposing it to a contradictory one, and this process, Hume thinks, leads to the total suspense of judgement if repeated endlessly in reflection.
