He stated that the individual's life was in a critical relationship with \"the idea\". Based on his theological works, including Germany's Destiny, we can understand this proposition as follows. First, through an encounter with God in \"conscience\", a human can gain a \"life of decision\", in which he or she can subjectively decide on what is good and what is evil in cooperation with God and other humans. Since a human lives both as a Christian and as a member of a \"human-historical community\", he or she struggles with their two different ways of judging good and evil and thus creates new ethical concepts in an attempt to mediate between them. This is where the revelation of God, interpreted humanly, came to be, and what Hirsch called
