In the technique, a model of the spatial distribution of the received power is assumed and the distribution is optimally fitted to the received signal strength measured at multiple points to estimate the location of the wave source. In this technique, the antenna patterns of the target wave source and the receiver are assumed to be non-directional and the free space propagation is assumed.
