A survey was conducted of 147 individuals who were utilizing 30 long-term care service establishments. The items surveyed consisted of basic attributes, social capital, life satisfaction, and satisfaction with life scale. Analysis by using Spearman's rank correlation coefficient showed that the social capital of long-term care-service users was significantly correlated with their life satisfaction and satisfaction with life scale. It was clear that the more users recognized that they had sufficient social capital―such as interaction with family members, friends or acquaintances, and local people―the greater their life satisfaction and satisfaction with life scale. These findings indicate that long-term care services that do not cut off the social relationships of users need to be provided, and that it is important to create facilities that are rooted in the
