 note = {本稿は、同志社大学人文科学研究所の小澤三郎旧蔵史料に含まれている自由廃業運動史史料を紹介する連載の第一回目である。「自由廃業の父」と呼ばれたユリシーズ・グラント・マーフィー(モルフィ)が自ら所蔵していた裁判関連史料のうち、今回は、マーフィーが最初に手がけた自由廃業訴訟である佐野ふでの事件についての史料と、佐野の直筆の手紙を紹介し、本事件の概要について解説する。平田平三、木庭利器三、大儀見元一郎、松田順平の本事件への関与についての史料も紹介する。, This article is the first installment of a series which introduce primary sources on the history of the free cessation (Jiyu Haigyo) movement in Saburo Ozawa's Collection in the Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences, Doshisha University. In this article, I introduce historical materials of the first series of trials for the right of free cessation of licensed prostitutes in Japan. Its strategy was created by Ulysses Grant Murphy, a missionary, for Fude Sano a prostitute, who hoped to leave licensed prostitution quarters.
