| 内容記述 | 本稿は，テオドール・アドルノらの「文化産業」に関する論考の再検討を通じて，社会システム論に基づくメディア文化を理解するための分析枠組みに関する基本的な考え方を提示するものである。アドルノらの論考は，文化産業が，文化的作品と消費者(大衆)の双方に対して強い「画一化」の力を及ぼすことを批判的に論じたものであった。社会システム論に基づくならば，生産，流通，消費といった段階でのコミュニケーションによって構成される複数の社会システムが複合的に絡み合ったものとしてメディア文化(文化産業)を理解することになる。アドルノらの文化産業の過大評価を避けつつ，複合的な社会システム間の力関係に着目する視点を引き継ぐことが重要である。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | This study aims to consider an analytical framework to analyze today's media culture based on the Social System Theory presented by well-known German sociologist Niklas Luhman through the examination of the classical theory of "Culture Industry" by German philosopher Theodor Adorno. In 1944, Adorno used the word "Culture Industry" in his famous work "Dialectic of Enlightenment," coauthored by Max Horkheimer, to criticize the contemporary tendency that every cultural product was produced as a commodity in a standardized way and that each individual was subjected to the force of capitalism and existing order. Although his arguments, which were based on Marxism, sound outdated today, quite a few sociologists are still attracted by his arguments, even in modern-day Japan. The author examines Adorno's arguments and suggests that he overestimated the power of the culture industry, because he argued that the system of economy encompassing the culture industry based on capitalism is a unique social system dominating the entire society. The social system theory suggests that a society is composed of a complex combination of social systems, each of which is autonomous while being influenced by the others. A critical examination of Adorno's arguments from the viewpoints of the social system theory suggests that a tug of war between different social systems as well as the "structural coupling" between them is the main focus to be analyzed. | |||||
