| 内容記述 | 本稿では，1860年合衆国北部農村個票データを用いて，各タウンシップの不動産保有格差（所有ベース）よりも農場価値額格差（経営ベース）が縮小することを示すとともに，その要因を明らかにすることを主題としている． 分析には，タイル尺度を用いるが，タイル尺度の特性を活かし，経営形態によるグルーピングと，それぞれの経営形態が不平等度に与える影響を「シェア効果」（各経営形態の所得シェアが与える影響）と「格差効果」（経営形態別のタイル尺度饒辺かが与える影響）とを分離した上で考察を行う．この分析から得られた結論は，(1)各経営形態のシェア効果・格差効果を分けて見た場合，その影響は決定的なものではない．(2)所有ベースでの格差よりも経営ベースでの格差が小さくなるのに最も大きな影響を与えているのは「経営形態間の格差の縮小」である．(3)しかし，手作地主に限っては，シェア効果と格差効果を総合した効果が，全体のタイル尺度を低下させる方向に影響していた． この結果は，手作地主は経営形態内の格差を縮小させつつ，他の経営形態の平均経営規模への近接化をなしていたのであり，角井（2013）で指摘したように，当時の合衆国北部において手作地主が農場の貸し手として機能していたという結論を補強するものである． |

| 内容記述 | This article shows that the inequality of the value of managed farms was smaller than that of the real property holdings in the antebellum North, and details the factors affecting the decreasing degree of inequality. Using the Theil Index, which decomposes value into not only farming group (i.e., owners, tenants, part owners, and cultivating landlords), but also the share effect (i.e., the effect of changes caused by the share of the value of real property holdings to that of farms by farming group) and the disparity effect (i.e., the effect of lowering the Theil Index intra-farming group), the following results are shown. (1) Each farming households’ share or disparity effect was not critical. (2) The main factor contributing to the decreasing degree of inequality was the improvement in inter-farming group disparity. (3) However, the combined effect (of the share and disparity effects) of cultivating landlords was high. These results show that cultivating landlords played a role as farm lenders, noted by Tsunoi (2013), and that their lending reduced intra- and inter-farming group inequality in the value of managed farms. |
