However, the general interpretations on the cultic calendars plot the various independent elements onto a chronological sequence of four successive documents (J, E, D and P). This paper will re-examine the methodologies, which are based on fixed theologies of the three annual feasts which do not consider the Holiness editors' intention. Especially, Lev. 23, which is a complex of ritual traditions, adduces significant evidence of how and why H editors composed this festal calendar under conventional customs, priestly settings and D's cultic innovations.
