| 内容記述 | 12世紀のユダヤ思想家マイモニデス(1138-1204)は、主著『迷える者の手引き』(アラビア語:Dalālat al-ḥāʾirīn、ヘブライ語:Moreh nebukhim; 1185-1191)の第1部50章から69章において、神の本質と属性の関係について、神の本質は人間には理解することが不可能であり、その属性も肯定的叙述によっては知ることはできないと論じている。彼のこのような言説は否定神学と呼ばれるが、その背景には、三位一体を唱えるキリスト教の教義と、神の複数の本質的な属性の存在を認めるイスラーム神学(カラーム)に対する批判が含まれている。本論文では、マイモニデスの属性論の全体を概観した上で、彼がなぜ、どのような方法によってキリスト教とイスラーム神学における属性論を批判していったのかにつき、当該箇所を中心に考察する。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | Moses Maimonides, a Jewish philosopher of the 12th century, developed his theory of attributes in his philosophical work, The Guide of the Perplexed (Dalālat al-ḥāʾirīn) in part one, chapters 50 to 69. He concludes that man can understand neither God's essence nor His attributes through a positive description of God. His theory is referred to as "negative theology," which includes his criticism of Christian theology and Islamic Kalām, especially on their doctrine of the Trinity and on their theology of positive attributes. On reviewing the relevant chapters in the Guide, this essay examines the way in which Maimonides developed his theory of attributes by referring to his critical views on both Christian and Islamic theology. | |||||
