| 内容記述 | Professor Taisuke Kamata has devoted much of his professional career to studying the constitutions of Japan and the United States. He has paid particular attention to reapportionment cases, involving the fundamental requirement of equal voting rights for citizens to participate in a democracy: one person/one vote. Two recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions considered the extent of government officials' rights of participation and expression. In one case, the Court upheld a state law restricting an elected official from voting on a proposal. In the other, it ruled that a police chief had no constitutional protection to complain about his work conditions. In both cases, the Court decisions arguably abridged, or at least affected, the interests of the public. | |||||
