| 内容記述 | 「地域」は、政治経済的または歴史的および社会的に構築されるものである。それには、国内や国際、ローカルからグローバルの様々なレベルによって使われているコンセプトがある。例えば、国内レベルで使用される地方（「関西地域」など）と国際レベルである領域を示す地域（「バルト海地域」など）と、グローバルレベルで領域を超える政治経済的な地域（「APEC—アジア太平洋経済協力」）など、様々な「地域」の存在を把握できる。本論文では、このような多様なレベルや枠組みで使用されている地域について、よりインターディシプリナリな視点からアプローチし、国際関係論の地域主義における「地域」の見方とその変容について比較的に分析する。第1部では「地域化（regionalization）」について、環境学と国際関係論で議論される主に2つの見方（1. Contextual and definitive approach、2. Political economic and progressive approach）について考える。また国際関係論における地域主義は、20世紀の後半から注目されはじめ 、1950年代、1970年代、そして1990年代に渡って、その枠組みと方向性が変容している。具体的には、連邦主義、機能主義、新機能主義、トランザクショナリズムおよび政府間主義であり、それら枠組みと「地域」について議論する。第2部では、地域に関わる様々な概念や要素との関係について考える。具体的には、地域を構築する原因、関係するアクター、ある枠組みの組織がつくる「地域性（regionness）」と、その政治・安全保障、経済と、環境の側面である。特に21世紀に入ってから、環境問題の影響から、より複雑化している地域の定義とその境界について、地域主義の中でも起きてきた新しい見方を議論する。 | |||||||||||||

| 内容記述 | This paper aims to look at "region" with an interdisciplinary approach while situating the concept within the field of international relations. Regions can be defined as local, national or international scales of interactions among states, communities and sub-regions. Nevertheless, definition of a region at each level differs according to the analytical perspective of various disciplines that attempt to create the region. Hence the paper focuses on local, national and international appearances of regions as vertical dimensions of region-making, i.e. regionalization. While defining creation of regions at these levels, horizontal dimensions of regionalism, i.e. political-security, economic, and environmental aspects of regionness, are also examined in this paper. Connecting regions between those local and global levels in order to better situate regions along the region-making tracks of "contextual and definitive approach" and "political economic and progressive approach" within changing dynamics of the recent international relations is another attempt of this paper. A descriptive classification of the existing literature on "region" is made in the beginning of the paper by focusing on these two approaches while a comparative methodology is used to clarify various examples of the recent political-security related, economic and environmental regions in the latter part of the paper. | |||||||||||||
