| 内容記述 | 本稿は、ダウライス製鉄会社とグレート・ウェスタン鉄道会社の関係を事例に、鉄鋼の大量生産の到来期における物流管理の課題を検討するものである。第一に、新しい大量輸送の仕組を示し、第二に、しかしながら大量貨物が適正に処理されず遅配が生じたこと、第三に、多様な貨物情報を適正に処理されず誤配が生じたことを示し、貨物情報の標準化に基づく大量輸送の仕組みと標準化されない鉄鋼生産とのあいだに生じた軋轢を示す。 | |||||||||||

| 内容記述 | This article focuses on the case study of Dowlais Iron Co. and the Great Western Railway Co. in the 1880s, examining some distributional problems during the advent of mass production of steel. First, it illustrates a new mechanism for mass transport. Second, it shows, however, that the railway company could not deal with the large quantities of goods, which often lead to delayed deliveries. Similarly, the company could not manage diverse information of goods, often leading to wrong deliveries. This article provides an example of the conflicts between mass transport, which was based on standardized information of goods, and steel production, which was not standardized. | |||||||||||
