By this research, we have had a focus to \"occupation\" about river and tried technology and cultural record preservation of the history that were going to be forgotten through the investigation to a craftsman engineer and found a method of the appropriate record preservation and tied resources of such intellect to the rebuilding of the connection among a river, a local community and the person, and aimed at considering a policy of the area activation that utilized them more. We decided to do our study mainly on the fishing in a river because it is active in an area while following a traditional fishery peculiar to a river. We confirmed a document about the present conditions of the fishing in Japanese rivers for the investigation, and the technical tradition of the fishing in a river as the occupation which is conserved in the Shimanto-gawa River seemed to be appropriate to carry out the investigation. I carried out hearing investigation other than documents investigation for an investigation method. For a river fisherman, a craft-man and a local historian, I heard the contents of the activity, the present conditions of the fishing in a river, the situation of the river concerning to an environmental change, problems, philosophy or thought for the river from three people. I inspected the element of the fishing in a river to reach the technical acquisition of the tradition fishery and also the element through these activities which make the community ties and
