 note = {『今昔物語集』巻十一第十五話「聖武天皇、始造元興寺語」を「弥勒」と「童子」の関わりを中心に考察した。「元興寺の説話」は、先行研究において元興寺の仏法滅亡譚であるという見解が主であったが、今回の考察で弥勒を中心に検証する事により、本説話が弥勒造像伝来譚を語ろうとした説話であることを論証した。また弥勒伝来を通じ、正統な仏法が本朝にもたされたことを示す説話であったことを論じた。, This paper examines "Shomu Tennou Hajimete Gangouji Tsukurerukoto (Emperor Shomu's Foundation of Gangouji Temple)", the 15th episode in Konjaku Monogatari Shu Volume 11, mainly paying attention to the relationship between the Maitreya and the Boy. The tale of Gangouji Temple has often been considered as a story about the fall of Buddhism in the temple. Focusing on the Maitreya, however, reveals that the tale also describes an introductory history of creation of a Maitreya statue.
