| 内容記述 | 本稿は1870年代のダウライス製鉄会社と鉄鋼商フォレスター商会の関係を例に、産業集積の機能を再検討する。なかでも第一に、これまで等閑視されていた鉄取引の過程を示し、第二に、鉄取引における鉄鋼商の仲介機能の意義を検討し、第三に鉄鋼商を介して製鉄会社と顧客であるブリキ板金工業が鋼鉄生産という技術革新の課題を共有したことを示すことによって、製鉄産業集積から包括的な金属産業集積への変容の過程を例示する。 | |||||||||||

| 内容記述 | The idea of "industrial districts" proposed by Alfred Marshall has often been applied to the innovation and diffusion of productive techniques. This article examined this function through a case study of the Dowlais Iron Co., a representative of the South Wales iron and steel industry, and Forester & Co., an iron merchant, using the correspondence between the two in the 1870s. In particular, this article considers the functions of the iron merchant, both in daily trades and in the long-term innovative development of steel making, and shows the iron company and its customer tinplate makers linked by the iron merchant as a type of Marshall's "industrial district." | |||||||||||
