First, I deal with the idea of the defiling force of sexual immorality. I argue that the idea is detected in the Old Testament (particularly Priestly source and Holiness source) and the second-temple literature, and that compared with ritual impurity, moral impurity incurs serious damages on the person, the sanctuary, and the land. Second, I deal with sexual immorality as an apocalyptic enemy. I argue that social and cosmological dualism found in Paul's arguments shows that he thought sexual immorality as among apocalyptic enemies. Therefore, when believers commit sexual immorality in their faith-community, it means that they put in peril the holy community that shall inherit the kingdom of
