| 内容記述 | 本稿は1850年代の英国南ウェールズ製鉄業の企業間関係を、ダウライス製鉄会社を中心に、生産、販売、労使関係の三点から検討する。一部の研究者は製鉄会社間の競争を重視するが、他方で競争と相互協力関係の並存を強調した研究もある。本稿は、競争的側面のみ、あるいは競争と相互協力の二面性を強調するのではなく、1850年代をダウライス製鉄会社が鉄生産を安定化させて相互協力関係から自立する転換期として位置づける。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | The nature of the relationships among companies in the British iron industry in the 19th century – competition or combination – has been controversial. This article examines the problem through a case study of the Dowlais Iron Company, a representative of the south Wales iron industry, using its correspondence in the 1850s. In particular, this article considers three aspects of the relationships between the companies (production, sales and industrial relations), and suggests that the 1850s was a period of transition when the Dowlais Iron Company stabilized its production and became independent from the combinations among the companies. | |||||
