 note = {同志社大学今出川キャンパスのランドマークと言えば、クラーク記念館(旧神学館)である。にもかかわらず、従来は「クラークって誰」であった。彼は、プリンストン大学の出身者で、同大学院に入学してまもない1891年1月に急死した。聖書を愛読する会衆派の信徒であった。息子の死を悼んだ両親、とりわけ母親が、11,500ドルを寄附して、建てられたのが、この神学館であった。肖像写真など新資料がいくつか入手できたうえ、学生生活の一端や、家族関係や死因、墓の所在地も判明した。, The Byron Stone Clarke Memorial Hall is the second theological hall of the School of Theology, Doshisha University, Kyoto, Japan. It was erected in 1893 to commemorate a special gift of $11,500 from Mr. and Mrs. Clarke to Doshisha through the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions. Using new materials and data, including portraits, his career, and his family's graves, this paper clarifies the identity of Clarke that has been kept in the dark for such a long time.
