Two independent groups of subjects were confronted with a narrative, one with and one without pre-information about the plot. Based on the re-reading paradigm by Bortolussi and Dixon (Psychonarratology, Cambridge University Press, 2003) it was assumed that subjects with pre-information will show more attention during reception than readers without pre-information. Attention was operationalized both as amount and as posterior vs. frontal distribution of alpha waves in the EEG.
