| 内容記述 | メタファーは、ソースからターゲットへの連続的なイメージの拡張に基づき成立している。イメージ拡張の特性である単方向性は、拡張するイメージ間の拘束性を弱め、通常のメタファーの理解、使用には不要なイメージを埋没させる。これによりターゲットである一つのイメージだけが際立ち、この一つのイメージが特定の一つの言語形式と結び付き、メタファーにおける言語形式とイメージの強い結び付きは確保されている。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | Metaphor is a form of a conceptual projection involving metaphorical extensions from the source domain to the target domain. Speakers use metaphors in understanding and talking about the real world. They create new concepts by extending existing imagery learned through experience. Speakers can trace the underlying metaphorical extensions, because concrete images extend successively from the source to the target and the path from the source to the target is unidirectional. Speakers can reconstruct the path even if part of concrete imagery falls away from the path, though they use and understand metaphorical expression focusing on the target. | |||||
