It has been argued that the spectacle of royal ceremonies acquired more importance as the political power of the monarch waned. Queen Victoria's jubilees had a symbolical function of attaching the monarch historical luster and uniting the nation and the empire. This essay examines the way in which one of the most popular media of the day, the ILN, represented the jubilees and materialized the symbolical function of the
