For example, reaction of dibenzoylmethane (2a) with styrene (1a) in the presence of Cu(OTf)₂ catalyst at 70℃ for 24 h in benzene gave 1,3-diphenyl-2-(1-phenylethyl)propane-1,3-dione (3aa) in 95% yield. This reaction was able to be applied for various β-dicarbonyl compounds and olefins including diene.
