| 内容記述 | パウロの論敵は、ギリシア・ローマ世界の社会的、文化的理想と価値観に依拠していた。このことは、彼らが「この世の知恵」を受容していること、神殿の食事に頻繁に参加していること、そして、彼らの主の晩餐での振る舞いから論証することができる。「この世の知恵」は、ギリシア・ローマ文化を根底から支えていた「修辞の文化」を示す。そこに見出される上流階級的価値観、理想に彼らは執着していた。神殿の食事は宗教的意義だけでなく、社会的、政治的意義ももっていた。それへの参加は、社会的、政治的安定や昇進にとって欠かすことのできないものであり、さらには、権力当局による祭儀システムに参与することを意味した。主の晩餐での混乱は、彼らが当時の食事会における上流階級的風潮(高慢さ、下層階級への軽蔑など)を共有していたことを示している。こういうわけでパウロの論敵は、この世の価値観、理想に心を奪われ、コリントのエリート文化に執着していたと言える。 | |||||||||||

| 内容記述 | The opponents of Paul in 1 Corinthians adhered closely to Greco-Roman cultural values and ideals. They valued "the wisdom of this world,"regularly participated in temple meal, and had the dinner party at the Lord's Supper. The wisdom of this world indicates the culture of rhetoric, which was essential to Greco-Roman society. The opponents embraced the culture and its relevant upper-class values. The participation in temple meal was not only religious but also social and political in significance. It was obligatory and essential for their social stability and advancement. Furthermore, the participation meant to be integrated into the sacrificial system of the authorities/the elites, ultimately, of the imperial rule. The disorder at the Lord's Supper indicates that the opponents shared cultural ethos of the upper-class people at the Greco-Roman dinner party, which accompanied arrogance, excess, contempt for the poor, and so forth. Thus, we can argue that the opponents adhered to the culture of the elite Corinthians, occupied with its values and ideals. | |||||||||||
