| 内容記述 | 本論文では、明治期の立身出世主義の分析を行い、(1)立身出世主義が近世の儒教思想(通俗道徳)と連続性をもつこと、(2)そこに開化した人間/旧習に囚われた人間という対比が出現していたことを明らかにした。本論文ではこの二点を、立身出世主義が士族(旧武士階級)によって主に担われていたという歴史的事実から説明した。明治期の士族は、近世以来の家職を失い、知識ある無産者階級として最初期の近代教育制度に参入した社会層である。こうした士族の社会経済的状況が、近世の生活を否定し、近代セクターに適合的な人間像を称揚する立身出世主義に反映されていた。 | |||||||||||||

| 内容記述 | This paper analyzes the ideology of self-made (risshin shusse) during the Meiji period and clarifies two main points: (1) that this ideology had continuity with early modern Confucian thought (tsuzoku-doutoku), and (2) that it involved a contrast between the "enlightened individual" and the "individual bound by old customs". In this paper, these two aspects are explained by the historical fact that the ideology of self-made was mainly upheld by the shizoku (the former samurai class). The shizoku in the Meiji period had lost their hereditary occupations passed down since early modern times and entered the newly established modern educational system as an intellectual but propertyless class. This socio-economic condition of the shizoku was reflected in the ideology of self-made, which rejected early modern lifestyles and valorized a human ideal suited to the modern sector. | |||||||||||||
