| 内容記述 | 高等教育における学部・学科・専攻分野の選択に男女差のあることは広く知られている。本稿の目的は調整変数としての生徒の出身背景に注目し、出身の有利さが男女の専攻分野選択の違いを強めるか、それとも弱めるかを確かめることである。高校生とその母親に対する調査のデータを分析した結果、母親の学歴が高い女性が人文系分野を好んで選択する傾向があることが確認された。また学歴獲得に対する象徴的な意味づけがこのような階層の影響の背後にある意識であることについても示唆を得た。 | |||||||||||||

| 内容記述 | Gender differences in the choice of majors within higher education are well documented. This study examines whether students' social background, treated as a moderating variable, amplifies or attenuates gender disparities in field selection. Using survey data from 11th grade students and their mothers, the analysis confirms that women with highly educated mothers are more likely to prefer humanities disciplines. The findings further suggest that the symbolic meanings attached to educational attainment shape the value orientation underlying such effects of family background. These results highlight the complex interplay between gender and family background in shaping educational inequalities. | |||||||||||||
