| 内容記述 | In the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, transnational cultural products has been imported and populated among the younger generation in Vietnam, especially Japanese manga. Consequently, a strict censorship system has developed to filter out content considered harmful to the regime or contrary to cultural and social norms. By investigating the case of Japanese manga in Vietnam, I argue that local publishers have employed an artful strategy to adapt to changing social and political factors in the local and global markets in order to gain profits while still somehow adhering to both domestic and international regulations on printed media products. Thus, this study hopes to fill in the gap in the adaptation of Japanese popular media products on a global and local scale via the investigation of manga production in Vietnam. Furthermore, the findings of this study might also shed an insight into how a foreign media product imported and increased popularity inVietnam in not only a commercial aspect but also a cultural aspect while having certain contentious issues due to local moral norms and political regulations. | |||||
