To develop cancer cell-selective anticancer drugs, I focused on the specific environment of cancer cells, which is different from that of normal cells (higher concentrations of reactive oxygen species and reducing agents than normal cells). In this paper, I developed various amide-tether dicopper complexes that exhibit cytotoxicity through reaction with hydrogen peroxide, a type of reactive oxygen species, or upon oxygen activation by reducing agents.
