When it was produced Walkman was not necessarily unique technologically, because it was a combination of technologies used in already existed audios like tape recorders. But, the idea of portable audio player was unique in itself, and by appealing to the young strongly, who are always sensitive to smart and new things, Walkman finally changed the style of people as a whole around the world in listening to music. The characteristics of Walkman such as not place-fixed or freely movable are just the reason we call it as Landmark Commodity. However, in recent days, by invention of variety of cell phones and integration of Walkman's functions into them, the development of portable audio players is coming to a new
