Das Subjekt der ewigen Wiederkehr verwandelt sich stetig wie ein Schauspieler. Solch ein plurales Ich zeigt sich bei den Helden der Filme von Oliveira, Rossellini, Renoir. Sie bringen die Wiederkehr des anonymen Volkes auf die Bühne des Maskenspiels und demonstrieren durch diese Wiederholung die Chaplin'sche Zähigkeit des Volkes. Eine wichtige Rolle spielen dabei die akustischen Elemente, die vom Volk wiederholt zum Gehör gebracht werden. Auch Nietzsche sieht die Möglichkeit der zukünftigen Kunst im freien Gebrauch der ,,Volkssprache der Musik“, die voll von Lust an die Maske ist.
