At the same time, learners are expected to be prepared with new kinds of literacy to use computer and network resources to their full potential―to access and retrieve information, properly evaluate what has been retrieved, and use it for the purpose of creative output. In order to achieve this goal, the components of the new literacy must be carefully defined and integrated into the processes of language teaching and learning. This paper describes one such attempt by the author. Through careful instruction the new literacy can be acquired by learners and applied beyond language classes to help them establish skills and competencies that can be employed throughout their
