In physics, universities and companies reduced the number of articles, and the number of doctoral students decreased. This suggests that the decrease in the number of articles is a social structural issue related to "knowledge" as a whole of intellectual activity. In order to clarify the cause of decrease in academic papers in physic, multiple regression analysis on entering rate of doctoral courses was performed and its social background was discussed.
