It aims to respond to today's theorists of education who emphasize the limitation of Dewey's instrumentalism and to re-evaluate it in the contemporary context of education. They advocate that Dewey's instrumentalism cannot insure the plurality of democratic society. On the other hand, we examine the basic concepts of Dewey's philosophy and reconstruct his argument. By doing so, we show how to resolve the dilemma between sharing experiences among people and warranting the plurality of learner's growth, which has been the fundamental problem of education., application/pdf},
