First we analyze the relationship between economic damage and socio-economic factors. Next, we estimate the economic damage and loss caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake, and investigate social vulnerability in the case of the 2011 Thailand flooding based on a meta-analysis of prior research. Finally, we analyze subjective well-being using survey data from areas affected by the 1995 Hanshin-Awaji Great Earthquake.
