資本主義はこれまで危機により進化してきた。世界金融危もまたグローバル金融資本主義の時代を終わらせた。今では貿易や国際金融にはかつてほどの重要性はない。アメリカの家計の負債による支出拡大も終わった。しかし、危機後、素早く回復したのは金融とスーパーリッチである。政策においても新自由主義への回帰が見られる。資本主義の進化から考える時、進化が起きなかったことが世界金融危機の最大の特徴の一つである。
Capitalism has so far evolved through crises. The global financial crisis also ended the era of global finance capitalism. Trade and international finance are no longer as important as they once were. The debt-financed spending expansion of U.S. households is also over. But it was finance and the super-rich that recovered quickly after the crisis. There has been a return to neoliberalism in policy as well. When considered in terms of the evolution of capitalism, one of the most important features of the global financial crisis is that evolution did not occur.
