本稿では日本の製紙業に関する規模と範囲の経済性に従来用いられてきたトランスログ型費用関数をより一般化したコンポジット型費用関数を用いた推計を試みた。コンポジット型費用関数は、トランスログ型費用関数では許容できなかった産出がゼロであるデータを含む系列を推定することができる形式的利点がある。トランスログ型費用関数とコンポジット型費用関数の計測によって、製紙業における規模と範囲の経済性を比較検討した。
In this paper, I attempt to estimate economies of scale and scope for the paper industry in Japan using a composite cost function, which is a more generalized version of the translog cost function conventionally used. By measuring the translog cost function and the composite cost function, we compare the economies of scale and scope in the Japanese paper industry.
